Lola & Lyle

A small four person company based in Melbourne that hand makes plushies, clothing & accessories for infants & toddlers using 100% Australian materials.
The challenge
The team found a need when parents wanted to purchase a soft companion for their child that’ll bring them comfort and something that will help develop their motor skills.
So the challenge was creating a brand identity, positioning and marketing that appealed not only to small children. But also parents and grand parents as well.

The solution
After the initial meeting, discovery, research & styleboard phases of the project. The decision to move into a more simplistic, modern & gender neutral branding was approved.
The logo was based off a ball of yarn, incorporating the “L”s from both Lola & Lyles names & finally the rabbits ears were referenced from the original Lola & Lyle plushies that were made.
The colour scheme was based on being gender neutral but later added pink & blue for items that were clearly meant to be gender specific. But also simple patterns of yarn knots & animal icons were added at a later date to give the branding some more depth.
A strategy that was implemented to try and make the products emotionally connect with children was to add cute little stories about specific plushies to the price tags and bio on the website.
